Sony Xperia Z5 camera autofocus speed test (VIDEO)

One of the coolest features about the 23MP camera on the Sony Xperia Z5 is its sheer speed. Auto-focusing speed, that is, as the Hybrid AF technology in use lets the cam lock the focus faster than the blink of a human eye. Here's a demo.

Image quality, however, is one thing. Camera speed is a whole different story. Both factors are of importance to anyone serious about photography, and Sony knows that well. As a matter of fact, Sony has time great efforts into improving the latter - we're promised extremely fast auto-focusing out of the Z5 smartphones' cameras. Given optimal conditions, they should be able to focus on an object in as little as 0:03 seconds, which is about 10 times faster than the blink of an eye. In comparison, the top phones of yesteryear boasted focusing times of about 0.3 seconds to 0:27.

But is the Xperia Z5's camera as fast as Sony claims it to be, or does the record-breaking figures exist only in the realm of theory? Well, our impromptu text gives a hint, and the results are very promising. While attending the IFA 2015, we took an Xperia Z5 and the way its 23MP camera to the test. Firstly, we pointed it at a far object until it focused on it. Then we panned the camera quickly onto an object located about 6 inches (15 centimeters) away from the handset. Did the camera nail it? See for yourself in the video below.
